What is The Coronavirus?
At present, the coronavirus is a widespread source of fear for people on an international scale. Every day, news sources report on where the disease spreads and the death toll that recently surpassed 2,000 lives. When people receive grim reminders of the disease daily, it’s no wonder why the virus has become a source of panic. Fortunately, the hysteria is largely unnecessary especially after considering what’s fact and what’s fiction.
Fact Vs. Fiction
Despite people’s best attempts at educating themselves on what the coronavirus is, there is a lot of misinformation being spread about the disease. Without being properly informed, it’s easy to fall victim to the negativity that the news perpetuates. The better informed you are, the less you need to worry about your safety.
Fiction: The coronavirus is the most dangerous virus you can catch and is very difficult to treat.
Fact: The common flu kills 60 times more people annually than the coronavirus and the virus’s symptoms are very manageable especially if you’ve ever experienced a cold or flu. The common symptoms associated with the coronavirus are fever, cough, and shortness of breath. So treating yourself as you would with a cold by resting, being mindful of what you cough into, and staying away from others can prevent the spread of infection.
Fiction: The coronavirus is essentially a death sentence.
Fact: Catching the virus is not only difficult to distinguish from the flu but is also no more dangerous than it. Those who are at higher risk of complications from the disease are those who are immunocompromised. Immunocompromised people are those who have a weakened immune system that overall affects their ability to fight infection. These people include young children, elderly people, and those with certain genetic disorders or pre-existing health issues. Those who are at a higher risk should note to take extra precautionary measures such as frequent hand washing and avoiding those who are already sick.
Fiction: China’s at fault for the coronavirus outbreak and therefore I should cut ties with anyone I know from China.
Fact: When something goes wrong, people can be quick to point fingers at who they suspect is at fault for the issue. The hysteria is in part fueled by racism and xenophobia and is not proven by evidence or practicality. There is no reason to disrespect or alienate yourself from international citizens based on something they didn’t cause and have no control over.
A Potential Cure for Coronavirus
While there are currently no coronavirus vaccines and some sources claim that it’ll take years to develop one, finding a means of curing or slowing the virus’s effect are vital for those who are immunocompromised. One widely overlooked treatment that has been proven very effective is taking high doses of vitamin C during the duration of the illness. It’s common knowledge that vitamin C can help support the immune system, however, maximizing the dosage can prove to be antiviral. Dr. Andrew W. Saul, an international expert on vitamin therapy, says, “The coronavirus can be dramatically slowed or stopped completely with the immediate widespread use of high doses of vitamin C. Bowel tolerance levels of C taken in divided doses throughout the day, is a clinically proven antiviral, without equal.” Dr. Robert F. Cathcart, a doctor that has extensive experience in treating viral illnesses also remarks that, “I have not seen any flu yet that was not cured or markedly ameliorated by massive doses of vitamin.” It’s important to treat the body with mass amounts of vitamins because maximizing the body’s anti-oxidative capacity and natural immunity is crucial to reduce symptoms while the virus attacks. This treatment has been done intravenously to help slow down or cure the effects of polio, meningitis, pneumonia, measles, hepatitis and other viral and bacterial diseases. Other vitamins such as D3, zinc, magnesium, and selenium are also used for treating viral illness in high amounts. However, if attempted orally, it’s extremely important to be aware of overdosing on specific vitamins and the complications that would follow. So be sure to contact qualified healthcare professionals before stocking up on vitamins and self-treating to ensure your health and safety.
Dr. John Kim recommends that if you do orally treat yourself, that you use vitamin C, vitamin D, Selenium, and Hybrid CR. He recommends that you test the body’s tolerance with supplements prior to overwhelming your system with them. On the first day, take 2000 mg every hour until some form of loose stool occurs. Afterward, refrain from taking more, and use that as a measurement for what your body can handle. If you were only able to handle 6 capsules, for example, then take no more than six the following days, and repeat for the duration of the illness. Vitamin D is also highly recommended for any flu season and taking 5000 IU will help protect and fight off viral infections like the coronavirus.
Selenium is another vital mineral to take not only to aid in immunity but also to prevent some of the viral complications that frequently occur during infection. After looking at major outbreaks of SARS, the swine flu and the bird flu in China, statistics show that they all developed in selenium-deficient regions. Therefore, including the supplement into your daily diet can help you defend against a number of different viral outbreaks. Finally, Dr. Kim recommends taking Hybrid CR during the flu season also to both prevent and treat viral infections. By taking all four types of vitamins and minerals, you can better prepare yourself for an array of diseases, especially those that are difficult to treat.
